Mitt Romney – 2008 Exploratory Committee

OK, so I’m not sure that I agree with his politics, but anyone who wants to see how to use social networking should look at his 2008 Exploratory Committee website. Nice Job!!! There is lots of rich content and RSS feeds. There is even a section called Mitt TV where they have chunked up videos and provide them in easy to swallow segments.

I hope this guy can stay in the race. I’ll be interested in seeing how he interacts and attracts the blogosphere.

Again, kudos to Mitt and his team.

Senator Joe Biden and his Bid for Nomination

Anyone care to tell Senator Biden that his team needs to understand how to utilize the newest technologies? His 2008 Biden for President website is underwhelming at best. I mean, put in your email, select a state, and check a box that indicates that you are willing to organize events!  YYYYAAAAWWWWNNN! Is this a way to energise a base.

It doesn’t help if you go to his senatorial site either. If you want to stay up to speed, give them your email address. No feeds but access to old Meet the Press footage.

I guess he is not one of the candidates that will use Social Networking tools during his campaign.

Oh well, let’s look at someone else…

Barack Obama Announces his Intentions

Well it seems that yet another presidential candidate, Barack Obama, has decided to utilize the blogosphere to announce his intentions. There is a video of his announcement on his Exploratory Committee website. It seems that Senator Obama decided to use a number of outlets for his announcement including traditional media.

At first glance, I assumed that he or his team is not up on all the best technologies, like RSS, since there is no feeds on this site. However, I guess it was an oversight since his senatorial site comes with RSS and access to his Podcasts. Yet another indication of how new web technologies will be used in the 2008 Presidential Campaign.

I think I’ll meander around some of the other candidate sites and see if they understand the 2.0 capabilities.
